Investing in the youth of today for a better tomorrow.
Our Story
Monahans Kids Zone (MKZ) is a nonprofit afterschool and summer program for children in grades 1–6 — and soon, through 12th grade! We’ve been a safe, supportive space for Monahans youth since 2007, helping kids learn, grow, and thrive when school is out.
Our programs focus on the whole child — offering healthy snacks and meals, academic support, technology access, creativity, and community connection. We partner with parents, schools, and local organizations to make sure every child has the tools and encouragement they need to succeed.
Through our daily programming and upcoming new youth facility, we’re creating opportunities that will impact not just students, but the future of Monahans itself.
Our Core Values
-
Safety – We provide a secure and supervised environment where every child is valued.
-
Support – We meet academic, nutritional, emotional, and social needs with care.
-
Community – We bring families, schools, and volunteers together for lasting impact.
-
Growth – We help kids discover their strengths and believe in their potential.

A New Chapter: MKZ’s Future Facility
Coming soon: a brand-new, 18,000 square foot youth activity center near Monahans’ newest school and park. This facility will allow MKZ to expand its reach to serve teens through 12th grade, host events, and open space for other community programs. It’s more than a building — it’s a promise to our kids and our community.
