OBJECTIVES
Monahans Kids Zone (MKZ) is a dba of Ward County Greater Works (WCGW), whose mission is to
gather community resources to meet the community needs of low-income children, the elderly and the
disabled. MKZ was started in 2007 as an after school and part-time summer facility currently serving
students in first through sixth grades. Its mission is to educate, inspire and develop, investing in the
youth of today for a better tomorrow. The purpose of MKZ is to provide a safe, clean, wholesome,
supervised, and fun environment for children of low-income homes when school is out.
Programming at MKZ includes after-school meals and/or snacks, tutoring and homework assistance and fun
activities like arts and crafts, sports, and a variety of games.Other activities include building themed parade floats and participating in parades for Homecoming and Christmas. Summertime activities include trips to the local swimming pool a couple of times per week as well as organized activities at the Ward County Library.
